Constitutive Changes in Nutrients and Phytochemicals in Kernels of Aluminium-Tolerant Maize (Zea mays L.)

چکیده

Maize (Zea mays L.) is among the three most important food crops worldwide. growth affected by high aluminium content in acid soils, which constitute nearly 50% of world’s cultivable area. Therefore, cultivation aluminium-tolerant maize hybrids could be a healthier alternative and an attractive source these regions. In this regard, to produce kernels, 16 inbred lines (Al-T) aluminium-susceptible (Al-S) were screened for their constitutive patterns selected nutrients phytochemicals. Proximate analysis, free phenolic acids (FPA) cell wall-bound (CPA) contents, as well antioxidant capacity (AOX) assayed anatomical kernel parts (pericarp, endosperm, germ). Kernels Al-T contained significantly higher germ protein, oil, fibre (2.9, 3.0, 0.5%, respectively) than Al-S kernels (1.9, 1.8, 0.3%, respectively). Importantly, nutraceutical contents terms pericarp FPA CPA belonging (92 mg 140 EGA/100 g). The highest AOX was observed (9.0 mmol TE/100 results herein indicate that Al-tolerance mechanisms induce positive changes phytochemicals; implies generated using emerge phytochemicals farming regions containing soils.

Acetolactate Synthase Activity in Developing Maize (Zea mays L.) Kernels.

Acetolactate synthase (EC 4.1.3.18) activity was examined in maize (Zea mays L.) endosperm and embryos as a function of kernel development. When assayed using unpurified homogenates, embryo acetolactate synthase activity appeared less sensitive to inhibition by leucine + valine and by the imidazolinone herbicide imazapyr than endosperm acetolactate synthase activity. Evidence is presented to sh...

Maize (Zea mays L.).

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...

Network-based transcriptome analysis in salt tolerant and salt sensitive maize (Zea mays L.) genotypes

Identification of genes involved in salinity stress tolerance provides deeper insight into molecular mechanisms underlying salinity tolerance in maize. The present study was conducted in the faculty of agriculture of Urmia university, Iran, in 2018, with the aim of identifying genetic differences between two maize genotypes in tolerance to salinity stress, and the results of gene expression wer...

COMBINING ABILITY AND HETEROSIS IN MAIZE (Zea mays L.)

A line × tester analysis was conducted in maize involving 12 lines and 3 testers for grain yield and its components to determine the heterosis as well as general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) effects. Highly significant genotypic differences were observed indicated wide range of variability present among the genotypes. GCA and SCA variance for yield per plant numb...

Epistasis in Maize (zea Mays

ISHER (1918) provided a framework for the characterization of genotypic variance whereby he partitioned it into three components: ( 1 ) a portion associated with the average effects of genes, (2) a portion associated with dominance effects (allelic interactions) of genes, and (3) a portion associated with epistatic effects (nonallelic interactions) of genes. A logical method for the further sub...
